Does coaching need to occur in person?

No.  Coaching can be done via the telephone from anywhere in the world and from the comfort of your home.  If geographically possible, coaching can take place face-to-face.

Does effect coaching need to take place in person?

No.  In coaching location doesn't matter.  A person does not seem to getter a better coaching outcome from face-to-face coaching.  In fact, most coaching isn't done face-to-face but by the telephone.

Why do most people imagine that coaching should occur in person?

Coaching is a relatively new field; therefore, many people view it as being similar to therapy.  Therefore, to have effective coaching it needs to occur face-to-face.  Coaching is very different from therapy. Therapy looks at a person's past and asks questions such as Why.  However, in coaching we look at the present and a person's future.

Advantages of Coaching by Phone:

• It is more effective
• There is no travel time (or additional cost for travel time)
• There are fewer distractions
• You are able to find the best coach for you
• You can do coaching in your pajamas if you like
• It can reach anyone, no matter where they live
